Beginner Pole Poses & More.

Over the 3 years that I’ve been a pole & aerial photographer, I’ve had the luxury of working with a range of people at different levels. While we can all agree that a Rainbow Marchenko makes for a gorgeous photograph, this is very much not a beginner move!

I am a firm believer that no matter how long you’ve been doing pole, weather you’ve been poleing for a few weeks or marking your 5 year anniversary – you deserve stunning photographs! Which brings me to today’s blog, beginner friendly poses.

Standing Poses

Butt to the pole, arch your back, arms straight with a slight bend over head and send your chin up to the sky. Or the other way round, chest to the pole, bend your knee that’s closest to the camera (you can play with arm movement and leg positioning to get some awesome variations).

Another Sunday bumday classic – booty towards the camera, wide stance and lean your chest into the pole. Stick you butt out and have your hands straight up against the pole.

Or keep it simple and classic with an elegant standing pose beside the pole. Inside arm holding onto the pole, cross your legs over and pop your hip.

Seats

It’s as easy as that! There are so many simple sitting poses that photography so well!.
A side sit, slightly wrapping your body around the base of the pole. Try playing with bending arms and legs, holding the pole in a different way… One seat can be made to look lots of ways!

Squats & Lunges

We all love a sexy squat – especially in heels!
Either straight on, leg open towards the camera for a very dramatic boss b*tch pic. Or you can do booty to camera or even go artsy with an angled ‘big boot’ snap!

Lunge with your booty towards the camera to get an extra peachy shot.

Base work

As easy as it sounds!
Commonly known as the ‘Trucker girl’, Lay on your back and arch, bend your knees (stag them is optional) and allow your hands to play around the space around you, the floor and your body.
For an EXTRA Bootylishous pose, angle your bum towards the camera- thank me later.

Or reverse it! Chest to the floor, arch your bum to the sky and play around with leg shapes and arm placement.

Handstands

If you’re comfortable with handstands, then give them a go. You can create so many beautiful leg shapes such as stagged, crossed knee and straight legged!
