Albert Amores & Bendy Kate

Day Overview

I started the day with practically no voice at all. A full day of cheering people one and being my usual self the day before at my EPYC Studio shoot- had taken it’s toll on me. Still, today was a day I knew I couldn’t miss. So I sucked it up! Chugged another Lemsip, took some cold & flu tablets and popped a throat soother in before setting off to the one and only, The Bendy Studio.

Albert was so lovely to work with and absolutely utterly incredible at what he does. You can tell that the 8 years he has put into the Pole arts has paid off. He created some stunning shapes and a few tricks that I haven’t ever seen before! Mix that with a deep blue & pink light, perfection! We also used the Red colour kiss lighting which give such a powerful vibe.

Bendy is, as always, a pleasure to work with. She has such an eye to fluid beauty which marry so beautifully with the crazy colours I like to use. I always appreciate that Bendy lets me run free with what colours we use- our favourites from this day we’re definitely the TRI colours.
Watching both of these incredible artists work together was breath taking and I can’t thank you both enough for trusting me to capture your art.

I say this very politely, but if you’ve been living under a rock and have not heard of Bendy Studio… then please please please go visit. (I’m bias as this is the studio I train at) but this has to be one of my all time favourite studios. Bendy and her team have gone above and beyond to create a place for everyone. From a treatment room, Pole, aerial, heels, flexi classes and so much more.

A Photographers Rambles

While I did start the day feeling some what self conscious that I was spending the day with two very incredible pole dancers while I had lost my voice, had a cough, and sounded snotty (glamorous right?) – but by the end, I was so wrapped up with how much fun we were all having that I had forgotten that I sounded like a husky old man!

I have worked with a wide range of different levelled poler and aerialists. From beginners who’s at their first photoshoot- to seasoned pros.
Working with both Albert and Bendy was an incredible experience as they knew exactly what they wanted to do and how they wanted it to look. Sometimes it makes me job feel a little easy as all I have to do is make sure the lights pay ball and that I’m always in the right spot to get THAT angle.
And while I know I come off as an extrovert at my shoots (which isn’t a lie, I am always so excited and happy to be there), really I would have to label myself as a bit of an introvert. I’ve always struggles to speak up about opinions or changes I could make due to low confidence. However with this shoot, I felt comfortable to share what I loved about the images, what we could try to do differently on a retry (usually small things like slight angle changes or hand positioning) or to change the lights slightly when I knew that I could make it better right there in the moment, rather then relying on magical editing skills to fix all issues.
Basically in a round about way, being able to work with a range of different levelled people, has allowed me to become more confident and sure in myself and my own abilities as their photographer.

For this shoot, I did actually stray away from my nifty 50mm lens, and instead used my 24-70mm Nikon lens. Having a zoom lens is especially helpful when I’m working in a slightly smaller studio. I can use a wider range to capture more! (if that makes sense? I don’t think it really makes sense to me but it works so I’m not complaining!).

the main colour sets we used during this shoot were:
-TRI COLOUR (blue&pink&green) (Yellow&Blue&Red)
-COLOUR KISS (red) (orange)
-CLASSIC (blue & pink)

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you in the next one!
